David played 25 league and 78 reserves games between 1962 and 1968. He made his league debut in round one of 1962 and ended his career with the Roosters as Second Eighteen’s captain in 1968.
His debut game was a memorable win against South Adelaide at Prospect Oval with the Roosters running out winners by 72 points, 19.16 to 8.10. Ian Robertson and Adrian Sutter also debuted in that game. Dave won several awards for the Second 18, including the most improved player award in 1964, the Best Ruckman award in 1966 and 1968 and the most Magarey Medal votes in 1967. He will be remembered as a very loyal club man who was much liked by his colleagues.
In June 1966 in a League match against Glenelg he had the rare distinction of scoring two goals without the ball returning to the centre when he goaled and was then infringed against by a Glenelg defender.
David passed away in July 2011 and the North Adelaide Football Club acknowledges David's contribution to the club
