Kevin
Finally! A top four scalp. Congratulations!
Clearly our best four quarter effort against quality opposition this season, notwithstanding a fair number of turnovers due to poor disposal.
Was it a conscious decision for players to play on so much? Whatever, I liked it - and it helped us achieve our highest score for the year (excluding the games against South, which don't really count), after recording a large number of extremely low scores this year.
Of course, it demands a lot from the players, but it was all on display - the high workrate, the willingness to run and support a teammate, or to create space and options. Well done to the players - we had a lot of very good contributors.
While the game and the win was very enjoyable, why oh why did we have to wait until round 22 to see it. In a poor year, our recent efforts including the Norwood game and the first half against South, were simply unacceptable and below league standard - and then we come up with a fantastic effort like this. It's very hard to believe these performances came from the same group.
In any event, let's go on with the job next week and end the year on a good note. Good luck.

Hi Kevin,
You are spot on with everything you say. No one is more frustrated that we haven’t been able to do this earlier than the players themselves.
Two reasons I have cited all year for our below par performances have been injuries/stability of side and goal kicking. It is no coincidence that our best performance for the year comes on a week when we make only one change and keep the back 6 the same for the 1st time this year as well as kicking 9.1 from set shots and 15.6 overall.
As far as the play on bit goes, we are always trying to encourage that but at times we lack confidence and conviction to carry it out. Again, personnel can play a big part. Having played Kriston back there for most of the year means he is growing in self belief all the time, plus we have added Tony Armstrong and Rhys back there as well in the last couple of weeks who just add tremendous class and skill to our ball movement.
See you at Alberton.
